Hampshire County Council has a requirement for a sea front service in Hayling Island. Has proved difficult to serve by bus or minibus in the past. The non-bussed section of the seafront is the ferry landing to Beachlands via Ferry Road, a distance of about 1.5 miles. Needs to meet ferry crossings every 30 mins (to/from Eastney for onward journey by bus to Southsea & Portsmouth). At Beachlands there are many attractions incl fun fair and start of East Hayling Light Railway. All bus services call at Beachlands.
I would welcome comments as to how Rickshaws might fulfill the role, news of similar schemes elsewhere and expressions of interest to operate.
Note added 31 Mar: No replies yet - maybe because I didnt give my email address (now added). It's getting a bit late for this summer, but I would still be interested to hear from anyone how rickshaws might substitute for a poorly-patronised bus service.
