In discussion with a number of pedicab operators early last month Westminster have now commissioned a study to identify parking spaces for pedicabs in London's west end. The proposal has been in the making for more then two years and has been hailed as a mayor break through for the industry that empowers more then 700 drivers a year.
The first bays are envisaged for June/July for operators who comply with the voluntary license schema. The bays will only be available to pedicabs with all other forms of transport facing penalty charges for parking in these bays.
This has been the first move by a council in the capital to secure a healthy and regulated, zero emission transport option in London.
