Just after making my last trailer Pedicabs (see the review), got started with making front loading Pedicabs. The trike is on of the easiest to build from a ‘first maker’ stand point, as it keeps all the active part of a normal bike & only needs the steering tub changed to make it fit the passenger seating. The nice thing is that you could use an old sofa (on wheels) for the front or a garden bench.

To stop yourself falling over, the steering angle has to be big enough for you to 'lean' into the corner when turning & the overall weight when loaded needs to center near the mid to just back of centre (use scales under each wheel). If you don't, then when some one steps onto the platform the bike will nose towards them (if they really big, so do you), on top of this, if you do not have one that does this then your back break don’t to stop you.

Tested the Pedicabs proto with 300kg for structural strength & maneuverability without any complaints but did manage to break all its younger sisters :D .

This style of trike is most favored in India, china & Poland but for Europe it’s not so great, as you use your passengers as airbags if you have an accident. The other bad habits with some of these trikes is that when one side of the front is lifted & you head up a hill (maybe a curb:mad: ), then this little baby will tip every on over to the back. Possible the steering system is at fault, as it is the one which moves all the weight & hills shift the centre of gravity to an empty, unsupported spot away from the steering point but by droping the seats closer to the ground this can be delayed.

I used v breaks for front & back as I found anything stronger on the front would snap my steering tub but that was just a design issue. It is possible to make the same style of trike with the tub going under the seating, which has other strong points but makes for more modifications to your easy to build trike idea.

The steering is light as long as the handle bars are fare enough apart & if you get banned as a pedicab is big enough to do deliverys or used as a hot dog selling trike:D .

Curb jumping is a big no, no as this would be curb !dumping!, doing speed only good if you have been paid to kill them & a sharp corner is horrible to think of when your rolling like a sausage :( .

To sum up, it gives a good view to you passengers & does not show off your big ass, it’s easy to build from strong bike parts & is ok for flat streets but in the long run your still better at following the design style of other trikes, such as the main street or SUV
