Hi there,

I got the info on another post that velotaxi from germany cost over EUR 7.000 new, so I'd like to know if any operator has some used ones for sale...

Pls kindly inform prices and post some pictures, too.

Cheers,
Rodrigo

I know that they had a bunch for sale, so try emailing them http://www.londonpedicabs.com/

As you may have heard, we are learning that a Turkish student employment agency known as turkishpedicab.com, which solicits operators in the States for positions for its clients, is advertising on its site that Velotaxis are headed for the states and NYC in particular. The site says it is searching for 8 drivers for NYC Velotaxis.

I was somewhat amused by the company's solicitation letter.

Addressed to me as "Dear Employer" from an Ali Horuz, of Turkish Pedicab.Com, from San Diego (619-228-3632) (admin (http://finance.groups.yahoo.com/group/nycpoa/post?postID=olZEto869axwfx4OLGi1UOAPTonKJPYYK0YHxY4caXItStStGlWAdK8IuHwKsTDbjE0taWypNbvQEYIybQavYw)[at]turkishpedicab.com), it advises me that they have numbers of Turkish students (engineering students) ready to come to the States and be pedicab drivers! Overnight!

Mr. Horuz states that his candidates are "more motivated then [sic] American riders" and that I can use this opportunity to "charge higher price for lease," presumably making their situation more desperate. In addition, his students do not "use any drugs or alcohol and part of crime that nothing can apart from working for your company."

We are curious to know why Velotaxis failed in London, and whether the business model of Velotaxi will meet the same fate in NYC, and other U.S. cities, regardless of who the driver is. If a pedicab ride is offered for free by Velotaxi, but is different enough or provided in a different part of town (say on determined route), does that pose an economic threat?
