Pedicabs coming to downtown Saratoga

WiIl Manzueta is in training for his newest job -- pedaler of a Saratoga Chariot pedicab, a combination taxi service and tour guide.
"I'm in training right now. So you need to be in shape," said Manzueta.
Will and his partner, Kristine Healy, hope to officially launch Saratoga Chariots next week. But first, they need a special city ordinance giving them free rein downtown, although Broadway is off limits.
Commissioner Steve Towne said, "Safety is a big issue. You know, where you're staging it, where you can pick up and drop off people. Where you have to drive, you have to be in a certain lane and keep to the outside."
If approved, Saratoga Chariots will operate seven days a week from May to October taking passengers all over the Spa City.
"We're going to be picking people up at those designated stops and taking them over to the racino or the track, downtown. Wherever they want to go," said Manzueta.
You can expect to pay between $5 and $15. Not only will you get from Point A to Point B, but you just might learn something in the process.
"Our drivers will be well-versed in Saratoga history. We won't send somebody up for a tour of North Broadway without knowing, obviously, about North Broadway," said Kristine Healy.
You don't need to make reservations, although the pedicabs can be rented out for special events.
A public hearing and the ordinance vote is scheduled for Tuesday night.
