Pedicab Now Available in Salt Lake

Forget the traffic and the parking headaches, the newest ride in town offers an quick, easy and
environmentally friendly way to get from A to B in downtown Salt Lake. That's right, Utah's capitol
city has joined the ranks of other big metropolitan areas with its own Pedicab company.
You see them in big cities everywhere.
Chad Cole, Wasatch Pedicab Company: “New York, Boston, Denver, Phoenix, San Diego, San Francisco…”
And now the pedicab has come to Salt Lake City, compliments of Chad Cole and business partner,
Brooks Gray, who together have been pedaling passengers around downtown for weeks now.
Anita Murillo: "Wonderful, marvelous. We ought to have more young men do this type of work for old
ladies like me." ¤
Brooks Gray: " (Question: Sounds like you're pretty charming?) I try, I try to keep the energy up
and entertain the people and at least inform them of something on the ride."
Paula Rogers: "You can see the architecture in the buildings and so forth - you can't see it in cars
when you're driving by."
From sight-seers, to business types, to bar-hoppers, the pedicabs are kept busy.
Michele Morin: "You could go out on Broadway and kind of go for a different atmosphere and
experiences at Gateway. And you wouldn't have to drive and park and worry about that. It would be
perfect."
Right now Chad and Brooks are doing most of the pedaling themselves, but they hope eventually to
hire dozens of riders, so a pedicab can be spotted on just about every corner.
So what's the cost? There is no set cost. You pretty much pay what you think the ride is worth. So
far they say the riders have been pretty generous.
Chad Cole: "We've seen everything from a nickel to a dollar to everything in between."
They said other companies in big cities advised them against it, but so far the honor system really
seems to be working out.
