hi

im trying to get as much info as possible on starting a pedicab bussiness in glasgow , scotland.

so far it seems pretty simple to get it off the ground , apart from money and trying to get a street traders licence.

however i dont have a clue on what you'd charge the rider to rent the cab i dont wanna be a cunt and overcharge the rider , also do u think its a good idea 2 just set a cheap taxi rate , like £3 max journey , im just thinking as its a new bussiness and glasgow is quite small i think itll be difficult to get people in it if they think your gonna overcharge them like another cab.

does anyone know anything about insurance.

do u need to go to specialist place to get the registratation plates and then give the details to the police.

should i go to the lpoa to get the badges .

any help would be appreciated.

cheers

I worked 1 night in Glasgow, boy was that an experiance! The Rangers and Celtic played that night, lotsa drunks and lotsa money:) :) :) . That said, I had one heroin punk threaten to stick me with a needle. Have fun!

Oh and I think the guy wanted to charg 100quid a week for rent but that was for a rickshaw and not a pedicab.

Great to hear & lots of luck. LPOA might be able to help with insurance & some other stuff, so get in touch, as they are happy to help & to ensure a safe industry. I ride with bugbugs in London would say that £85 rent is good if you have insurance, a base & some training for your riders. Let your riders charge what they are worth, as they are not cars & I bet you have some hills :).

Bugbugs might give some advice on how to set up if you wana do it right (might not be free but it's worth the money)
