One Man’s Love Of Biking Leads To A New Staple Of NY Transportation

Think transportation in New York: subway, taxi, car, or bus. But pedicab? Peter Meitzler, founder of Manhattan Rickshaw Company, thinks pedicab.
For the uninitiated, they’re also known as rickshaws, small two-wheeled carts; pulled by one person on a bicycle.
Gliding silently down Spring Street in Soho one mild November evening, Meitzler impressively maneuvers his pedicab through traffic and in between pedestrians, all the while holding a conversation and constantly scouring the periphery for potential accidents.
“I was hit from behind once,” he says. “You really have to be aware of your surroundings.”...
