View Full Version : Possible New Years Eve ban
London may face a 'pedicab new year ban'.
The police are looking to stop pedicabs from working New Years eve in crowded parts of the Westend, unless riders discuss with the police basic 'rules'. LARD are currently looking for volenteers who will join discussion with local police & help in 'policing' danger spots with the local pedicab firms.
If you can help - please contact tdayuk (Freddy @ Bugbugs) though the forum.
Hi Freddy!
Each year in Denver for New Years Eve, drivers are restricted from riding on the pedestrian mall during certain hours when there are 2 fireworks shows. We just got our letter today notifying us that this restriction will be in place again this year. Other than the pedestrian mall, drivers are free to ride everywhere else, as long as they follow the rules as always.

Hi to all LARD members,
The meeting will now not be held but police have offered the following information regarding road closures. www.met.police.uk/news/new_years_eve.htm (http://www.met.police.uk/news/new_years_eve.htm) with a map regarding the fire works.
They are advising riders to stay clear of the following areas from 10pm until 2am.
Waterloo Bridge (closed from 8pm)
Strand (closed from 8pm)
Trafalgar Sq (closed from 8pm) up to Leicester Sq area
Piccadilly Circus & Shaftsbury Ave & Coventry St.
Note:
Riders are advised to keep moving, as parking will not be tolerated & any riders found in the above areas may face arrest for 'endangerment' or 'will full obstruction' with offending pedicabs being impounded & the rider arrested.
Lard note:
If for what ever reason you need to go through a one way road, PLEASE 'walk though', you may still be committing a 'moving offence' so do not do this on a busy Street.
Do not take or leave your pedicab unattended, parked on pavements (even one wheel!) or you may face a fine.
Last year nearly 2 million people came but as there will be free tube & bus travel after 12 this year, business will be at the edges of the west end (this is also safer).
Do not go into any crowds as last year (as reported by police) two pedicabs were badly damaged & had to be taken away by police.
Ok, all the best for xmass & the New Year. Good luck & fortune
