Good day all....

Steve here in the Annapolis, Maryland area. I just purchased a rickshaw in a box....no name, no instructions...I have built and modified bicycles most of my life so the basic vehicle is completed. I am however baffled by the rear braking system which has piece of cork lined metal strip that is supposed to go around the drum on the main axle. If anyone has experience with this kind of set up feel free to drop me a note, or respond to my thread. I believe the rickshaw is an "alibaba, tc96"

I am looking forward to getting to know other three wheeler drivers

By the might lord of lost arts & stuff most dodgy, I have come across this once (if we talking same part). The item I shall describe was for an old (india pedicab), the brake consisted of a cast iron drum, which was fitted to a long metal bar ( the axle :) ). Just infront of the drum was another bar to which one fitted this belt which was then roled around the said drum, this was then attached to another small long bar & taken to the front.

To use the brake, one just pulled on the leaver, which then tightness the belt against the drum & the friction would slow & stop the pedicab (yea right!)

Also had a similar system on this quad (http://pedicabforum.com/photopost/showphoto.php/photo/595/cat/523) maybe post a picture of the offendning item :D

Thank you so very much for the response, I believe that is the way this is supposed to work, I am just not certain about bending belts, and hooking up the appropriate linkages from the hand brake lever to the belt. Your resonse is a very great help....thank you once again
