Pedillac pedicab being manufactured in the States...

Are you sure these are made in the U.S.? They look a lot like the Chinese knock offs of Cycle Maximus.

They are Chinese kits built by a guy here in the states. I know him well and I've owned a 2011 Pedillac non-electric. It was cool-looking and was great from an advertising standpoint. Our ad clients loved it (way better than a mainstreet).

Downside: Heavy and in serious need of locktite (we have nuts and bolts coming loose constantly). Could benefit from a more simple and common drive-train so bike shops will bother to look at it, better disc breaks and high PSI tubes and tires. Definitely Chinese quality.

It has potential for sure though for the cost.

All I know is that he got started importing Chinese Rip-off's of the Cycles Maximus cabs into the US...they were heavy and required maintenance.....

They were created to try to harness a fad that was spreading, and were a cheap alternative to the Industry Standard .....Main Street...they were created to be a cheap alternative for the starter-upper.....now this Pedillac wants you to buy his Bling.........He basically is a salesman....not a pioneer.

There was a guy who asked me to build him some bikes, here in VT, then he turned and bought 5 models from the chinese importer.....got them for around 1000 ea......then he retrofitted them into an American-looking bike to give them resale value, at 5000.00 ea........then a year later, he hasnt sold one around here, and dropped his price to 3995.00...the guy is a real estate agent looking for a hot new fad in a slower market....so he set up a meeting to check me out before he invested....to see if I could beat him to the market........

As a manufacturer, I find it difficult to understand why the buyers of the bikes from overseas dont recognize the difference in the price.....and what you are actually buying, because we can't get around these hills without going aluminum, and going into advanced drivetrain development for the loads and the terrain.....so his cabs are over 200 lbs...before the electric assist, and the batteries.

Our Workhorse trike comes in around 100 lbs soaking wet, and can climb a 25% Grade with two passengers in eigth gear by merely putting pressure on the pedals.....(we have 54 speeds if we need them !) It is simple enough to maintain it with minimal time and investment. Massive engineered frameworking to support almost anything.......and is very agile.
