I still don't understand your point, Yendrek. It's like writing, "well, Ferraris are great to drive, but if you mess with the engine and recalibrate it so it works like crap, then you'll kill it in three weeks' time."

Of course, if you insert a new element into a system that does not work well with the rest of the system as originally designed, then you'll destroy the entire system in short order. If you put incompatible brake pads into your brake calipers, then how well do you think braking will function?

Anyhoo, here's hoping well engineered trikes continue to be available to anyone who wishes to get his or her hands on one!

    Best,

    Gregg

Anyway i still think that dual drive is great but once you have to spend £230 for the new hub then it's not a fun

I personally think the dual drive hub is a weak-ish part on the maxi's since if you dont constantly keep the click box tuned in the second gear than you can destroy the hubs. I have found the solution though. The NuVinci dual drive sram transfer hub. Basically it uses a large ball bearing and is pretty much indestructible. It also does not need tuning and you can use bmx chain at the front as well. The shift is also a smooth linear change of gears so the rider can choose virtually 80 different ratios. No crunching. I have used them on a Veloform here in Sydney and I am very impressed. No tuning gears, no broken dérailleurs, no snapped chains. Check it out on you tube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Smijjy832X0 Love to know if anyone else has used the gearbox on a cargo trike with any success.
