Hi All,

I recently acquired an old, well used Indonesian Becak! What a great machine!

It was in poor condition when I took ownership but structurally sound.

A clean- up, new tyres (not ideal - bicycle tyres dont have the depth of the originals) and a paint job for the frame was all it took to get us mobile.

I didn't touch the beautiful painting on the woodwork beyond coating it with a protective acrylic.

It's not one of the Becaks with the big rounded mudguards - Mine are wood!

The upholstery of the seat and canopy are in good condition, but in later posts I'll certainly be looking for some advice re bearings, wheels and other things.

Had my first accident yesterday. Tried a sharp corner and tipped over. Seated inside were my dog and child. Both bruised but fine. lesson learned: the thing has a larger turning circle than my car!!

I'll take a few photos to post here.

Thanks for letting me be part of your community, I'd love to hear from other Becak owners.

Roger
