COMMONS Deputy Speaker Nigel Evans urged cops to waive strict security rules by allowing a rickshaw driver to take him into Parliament after a night out.

The Tory MP wanted to be dropped off at his luxurious grace-and-favour lodgings deep within the Commons estate so he could get the driver's £5 fare.
    Shouty ... in Commons

But police refused to allow access. Questions are now likely to be asked over why Mr Evans, 53, urged officers to make an exception for him, flouting tight security rules.
The Ribble Valley MP - who came out as gay last December - argued that taxis were allowed entry.
A source said: "He's a great character and very popular at Westminster but the officers on the front gate had quite a surprise when he arrived late at night in a rickshaw.
"The police refused to let the rickshaw through because it was unlicensed and the driver didn't have identity documents."
As one of three deputy speakers, Mr Evans is responsible for ensuring order in the chamber. A spokesman for the MP - who had spent the evening in London's West End - confirmed: "He did get a rickshaw back to the Commons.
"He needed the fare because he didn't have any cash on him."
A Metropolitan Police spokeswoman said: "A vehicle was refused entry as it was not an authorised vehicle."

What I wanna know is why the rickshaw driver in question went from the West End to the Houses of Parliament for a lousy £ 5 when it should have been a £ 20 minimum.
