Advertising Revenue
I’m planning to open a pedicab business in a college town (approx. 150,000 population) with good climate year-round using the VeloForm manufactured vehicles, most likely the CCI or CCII. This business will promote the city’s progressiveness and forward thinking bike attitude & culture. My question concerns advertising revenue. For those using these vehicles, can you share with me your pricing and advertising options? I ask this question knowing that ad revenue will vary by many factors such as area/city, length of promotion, etc. I know what the local advertising rates are for bus, bus stop, etc. and other outdoor media, but this is quite different IMO. Also, I’d appreciate any advice on obtaining advertising. Thank you

try the vehicles first
Hi,
I've been involved in pedicabs and avertising trikes for over 13 years. Please don't buy the vehicles without trialing one and asking other operators views.
In my humble opinion the veloform vehicle embodies the traits of the worst car ever and the worst pedicab ever. Rest assured its heavy enough to be a car. try to ride one up a slight incline with the battery disconnected with passengers onboard.
Best of luck with your project.

Clive - What model year did you use? I'd like to know what other operators think of the Veloform CCI and CCII.

I live in a similar town in population. You are right when you say rates vary. A friend of mine just got $90l0 a day for three cabs (full wrap) for a one day gig. In my town my rates vary from $50 a month to $150 a month depending on the location on the cab. I've never gotten a full wrap, but I think $400 a month is reasonable. Another friend 40 miles away lives in a much smaller college town. He does excellent with advertising revenue. He gives free rides on campus and is paid $100 a day by a food coop to pass out coupons. The coop is then able to track how many coupons come back. This approach has backfired somewhat when he is doing football games and students automatically think the rides are free. I would also say it depends on your aggressiveness on the phone and door-to-door persistence. Good luck!
