Question pedicab rental in boston- new england area?

I'm getting married this summer and, coming from a family of bike enthusiasts, we thought it would be fun to have my dad pedal me down the aisle (or across a field actually-- too long to walk with people staring at you ) in a pedicab or on a trailer/seat attached to his bike.

Does anyone have one to rent or have any ideas? We live in Boston and are getting married in Maine. I contacted Boston Pedicab but they insist that their riders drive... (why is it considered safe to rent a car but not a pedicab??)

Good question....Our drivers need a least 20 h practice before we allow them to carry passengers and we do not rent them to third parties as the compañeros from Boston.

Any accident caused by a "newbie" or people without experience could damage the image of our company or worse....

Before driving a car you need a driving licence and somebody explains you how to drive....

Of course, it is not a big deal to drive a pedicab, but you need at least practice...

Anther argument could be the insurance....

    Good luck

I have a totally different idea for you. Rent a conference bike. I know there is a company in boston that will rent them to you with or without a driver. I own one myself and my 10 year old son drives it to make pocket money driving around the local kids in our complex. Being that you come from a family of bike enthusiasts I know they will get a kick out of it. If you have never seen one here is a video link . I would rent it to you but I live in Denmark. I wish you the best on your special day.

Thanks so much for the suggestions, Hev and Ken. The conference bike looks great, but I'm not sure if the pedal party is still allowed in Boston (Mayor Menino was trying to ban them...), and if they are, their rates are a little steep for us-- $600 for 8 hours, and we'd need it for even longer...

But I am definitely going to check out the maine pedicab contact. I'll let you know how it goes.

I do not know the boston pedal people from a box of rocks. I do know that if the mayor is trying to put me out of business that my cash flow is clogged. So give them a call. I just looked at there website and looks like they have never done a wedding so maybe you can use that as a carrot. Let them have some photos for there webpage.
