    Default glasgow social enterprise

I'm starting a rickshaw business/charity in Glasgow called Free Wheel North. The idea is not only to establish a fleet of advertising rickshaws (velotaxis and others) but to connect to cycle path development, disabled cycling and workshops providing activity for excluded people. The concept builds upon the mental health bicycle recycling workshop Common Wheel, which has three workshops in Glasgow.
Free Wheel has strong connections with the regeneration projects in Glasgow, especially along the canal towpaths, where access for big cycles has been achieved, and in the east end, where the commonwealth games in 2014 are spurring big developments related to health and sustainability. We have applied for charitable status and we are having a fundraiser in Kaldi's restaurant on Saturday the 5th of July at 7.30 (50 Edinburgh rd, at the junction of swinton rd, Glasgow G69 6QL).
Ive had a problem finding insurance for rickshaws. If anyone out there can help, please contact me here or directly to or 0789 109 7936. Thanks norman armstrong

    Thumbs up Welcome

Great to hear about the social business approach, we've been running this kind of model at Bugbugs for the past 10 years. It has helped many drivers from a poor back ground to get a hold & earn the money for their education programs. It is the most empowering double win around, no co2 from fossil fuel plus a job that keeps you fit and is great fun!!!
