Thumbs up 450 mile ride on a rickshaw 2.5 days!!

James Cracknell and Ben Fogle take on non-stop rickshaw marathon in aid of wounded war heroes, finishing at The Mirror’s Pride of Britain Awards

    28/09/2009

Action men James Cracknell and Ben Fogle unveiled their latest fundraising challenge yesterday a non-stop cycling marathon in aid of wounded war heroes.
The daring duo, who have rowed the Atlantic and raced to the South Pole, aim to cycle 450 miles from Edinburgh to London with no break.
James and Ben will take it in turns to rest in the back of the rickshaw so one of them will be pedalling at all times, night and day.
They will start at the Scottish capitals historic castle on Saturday.

After a superhuman 60-hour ride they will be expected to arrive at their finishing point on the stage of the Mirrors Pride of Britain Awards in the Grosvenor House hotel, West London.

You can see the magic moment on ITV1 on Wednesday, October 7 from 8pm.
TV presenter Ben, 35, dreamed up the challenge, which they have called Ride of Britain, to raise money for SSAFA Forces Help.
Double Olympic gold rower James, 37, said: Three days of solid cycling will be a real endurance test living in the small space and keeping going through the night.
But it pales into insignificance in comparison to what our troops do on a daily basis. Reminding ourselves were doing this for them is what will keep us going. Pride of Britain gives us a chance to celebrate everything thats great about Britain and to thank people.
Ben said: Its really important that people donate, online, by phone or by post. And, of course, cheer us on.

We felt strongly about the cause and feel people who serve their country need to get acknowledged, even if war is a bad thing, when we send people to work for us they should get our support.

Bugbugs Media Ltd would like to thank SSAFA for approaching us and are pleased to have sponsored Ben & James on this amazing journey. We congratulate them on showing how capable pedicabs realy are, all 450 miles!!!
