Default Cycles Maximus Aberdeen Internet Scam

I am the victim of an internet scam while tring to buy an electric CM from a man in Aberdeen. The advert is in the Aberdeen Craigslist freeads . Ive had good communication with the seller right until it was meant to be shipped then nothing. It is a white pedicab in fairly good nick. I have lots of pics of it. If anyones had one stolen it might be worh a look. Im wondering how many other people may have fallen for this. Anyone with any potential information please let me know. Thanks!

Im sorry to hear about your predicament. Do you know the chasis number? If so contact maximus and ask them who they sold it to. Or perhaps spend the weekend in Aberdeen and see if a maximus rides by.

Hope you get your cash back

Let us know if you get any details about him. I'm an Aberdeen local and keen to help out!

Only ever come across 1 other rickshaw owner up here. It was a ratty old CM in yellow. Think it's still for sale if you manage to get your cash back from the possible scammer...

All the best of luck! Would love a rickshaw buddy up here.

Thanks for the support. Totally gutted as its scuppered my chances of buying one with a lynch i just found! Anyhow, i am sure it is a scam by a professional thief. The scammer is supposedly called Erik Heims and is supposed to live at 5 Union Lane, Ellon, Aberdeen, AB41 9DS. The advert is on a site called Aberdeen.craigslist.co.uk and is still up despite complaining 3 times! The trike is a silver Heinzman electric assist CM pedicab with broken front brake lever. I have lots of pics sent by the scammer which i can email. On google maps it looks like an industrial estate, but hard to tell. Thanks Rjoiner! Any help very much appreciated! Cheers.

The address turned out to be a hairdressers, the name is false according to the police. Theres never been any connection to Aberdeen. Was a scam through & through. Just never thought someone would bother scamming with something so specialist. anyhow you live and learn, and ive learned never pay using a bank transfer if theres a risk involved. Ive lost out and feel a bit stupid. Beware of similar scams, as it seems cycles maximus are being used for internet scams. Funny the banks cant help, seems the system is set up to help them out! Ah well...

It seems the guy is having another shot at "selling" this trike...

Assume it is the same CM scam.

Have e-mailed to see if i can take it for a spin 99% sure this cannot be genuine. I would surely know of any other rickshaws in a place this small!

    Hi RJoiner,
This guy doesn't give up. Exactly the same ad that we were scammed on! It was relisted on the Leeds Craigslist too a couple of months back. Thanks for posting this, i'll take it back to the police although they're completely useless when it comes to internet scams. Hope no one else has fallen for it. Did you get a reply?

Afraid I haven't heard anything back. Perhaps he keeps an eye on here? My name would have come up in my e-mail (d'oh!).

Had a similar issue with the police myself. I bought a pair of rickshaws online and had them delivered to shoe lane for the courier to take them to Aberdeen. I then got a phonecall from the courier saying "It's now going to cost £1500 to get these up to you". Well over double quoted price. I panicked and called police.
The courier refused to release them until he had been paid and the police claimed it wasn't a crime but a civil matter. Eventually after paying the chancer a "small fee" and arranging another (very helpful!) courier my bikes made it to Aberdeen.

You really have to watch out for those who want to take advantage of others online. Needless to say when i buy some more bikes in spring i will be traveling to London to accompany them back myself.

I'd suggest contacting craigslist, perhaps they can track the post to a member or an email.

    reynold.mathew@hotmail.com

    +44(0)7448 678 951

I contacted to arrange a purchase. He will "deliver" anywhere in UK for £30. Hohoho.

    No joy arranging a viewing.

    Thanks,

    Rob
