Default Modern Fiber Glass Cab - Pedicabs required

    Say,

We based in South Africa and looking at about 10 modern looking Pedicabs (with the fibre glass cabs) to transport older people - who have difficulty walking.

We may require some modifications to make it easy for getting on and off for older people.

We do not want any motor assist - only man powered pedicabs.

    Any suggestions please?

    Thanks

    Shaun

There are lots of cheap second hand bikes knocking around London you might want to speak to Friedal from bugbug pedicabs he has a lot of old bikes - he is on this forum as tdayuk look him up. Unfortunately those fibreglass bikes (they are called main street pedicabs made in Colorado), hold their value in London. The shipping is just going to kill you tho. I seriously recommend the ecotaxi from maxpro H7 engineering there prices are on their website - they carry 3, are extremely strong and will also hold their value

As you will not be using them as a pedicab business and you are looking to save some money then maybe you should have a look at what is on offer in China - try sites like alibaba and madeinchinadotcom and type in pedicab. Be warned these bikes are cheap because they are heavy, not built well and will need upgrading with a welder to strengthen the middle of the trike.

If you are looking for 10 bikes from the West you will pay about US$5500 per bike + import tax SA and shipping US$700 per bike so about $65000.

If you buy from China you will pay $10000 but be warned the bikes are crap and will not hold their value.

    Good Luck

    Hi Shawn,
you might look up an old recumbent model of pedicabs, which are called organic engines, I saw a few turned into quite a modern looking pedicab and the chances are you could build them in SA, rather then to import.
